Reprise: My E-Posted Response To A Question Time Debate on Religious Hate Laws

“I really fail to see how one can argue points such as
freedom of speech whilst defending bills against "racial & religious
hatred" and the like; like it or not, freedom of speech encompasses
freedom to utter sentiments contrary to logic, rationality, "moral fibre"
and "decency" (such as the belief in unproven spooks in the sky, but
let’s not get too deep into that!). Once one sets up "blasphemy
laws", hate speech regulations and PC speech codes as mandates, one loses
any claim to being an advocate of freedom of speech – quite the opposite in
fact! It’s an insidious step toward Orwellian government to ask for such
regulations – using fascism to fight "fascism" in other words!

“People have the right to be wrong; once you remove that, the
case for a "free society" falls on its backside. Choose freedom or
choose this mandated equality – but don’t ride the fence with the mistaken
delusion you can have both!”

  1. rinku says:

In the title you shouldn’t have capitalized A or To — if a word is a part of speech, it doesn’t get capitalized, even in titles.
